PARKING

Parking is close as we are in a parking lot and vendors are able to park in an area next to the market place and can easily walk a few yards to their vehicles, it is very convenient.  Below is a link to a map of the parking lot, note that most of the marketplace will be directly in front of the regional services building; the large rooftop you see on the mid left of the map.

SET UP

We expect to have volunteers available that can assist you in setting up.  Of course they will be helping other vendors as well so an early set up is key to securing their timely help.  Vendors may arrive as early as 7:00 am to begin setup and are expected to be completely set up before the Market opens.  If you require assistance from a volunteer you must plan your arrival time so that you can be completely set up by 9:30am.  Selling begins at bell ringing at 10am.

LICENSES

Montgomery County Health Department personnel in the Licensing & Regulatory Services section are available to discuss questions Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 4:30 p.m. at 240-777-3840.

GENERAL

The seasonal Briggs Chaney-Greencastle Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market will be held on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm on the parking lot of the East County Services Center, 3300 Briggs Chaney Road, Silver Spring, 20904.  It is a producers’ and artisans’ market and includes a hands-on children involvement area.  This year our season runs May 14 to November 19, 2011.  The Market is being planned by a few neighborhood volunteers and the Market Manager, Gigi Goin (Contact: 301-792-9448 gigi.ontheweb@gmail.com).

MARKETING

We chose the 4th most densely populated area of the county where there are many condos and apartments surrounding the single family houses. We will be using signage on the main roadways to draw attention as the date draws near.   We have already begun to get coverage in the Colesville Patch and Montgomery County Gazette.  We are listed in the Stare and county Agricultural websites  as a bonafide market.  We are listed in the Colesville Patch, Gazette and the Washington Post’s online listings for farmers’ markets.  We launched our social networking sites on April 30.
